Irresponsible and dangerous dive center.
Un-replaced filters in the compressor, sailing without a commercial license and thus taking customers at sea without insurance, as well as sending skippers out with... read more customers, who do not have the necessary papers to operate a commercial vessel. No wonder 2 out of 4 Divemasters in training leave such an unprofessional center. Although this could also be due to the way the staff is treated. Whistling to staff with just the use of the word 'Tanks!' to indicate that the cylinders need to be refilled. Allow the instructors so few days off that they are exhausted and can no longer guarantee the safety of the customers. The truth about GoDive Malta, the insight of an ex divemaster in training who saw how things really work. The only positive I can give them is that their customer service is generally well taken care of, their instructors and validity of papers not. All fine, until accidents happen, the explanation given to transport Malta goes like this; this just a boat with a group of friends going diving, nothing commercial. I was also asked to give this explanation if there was control. But it is a commercial vessel and so, if an accident happens, no one is insured. and getting help at sea will also be difficult without VHF on board. when I decided to leave Godive Malta after being insulted by the owner as an 'african merchant' which I think is a rather inappropriate comment in this day and age. I also decided to leave the free accommodation for staff. after this I got a lot of inappropriate voice messages telling me that I had to give him money because I left the free flat. I was told that I had to give him money because I decided to leave free lodging. I quote literally from his voice messages 'if you don't pay, I have to do something.' The contract stated 0 euros rent, it also stated that if a tenant terminates the rent without 1 month's notice, he must pay 50% of the rent to the landlord. After i told him i will give him 50% of 0 euro I got the voice message; 'Yes okay give me half of 0, but then give me 100 euro deposit and i will decide when i have to give you back your f***** deposit, friend Hey! you want to do that? let's do that! Baby, you are going to lose baby, you are going to lose! because I know exactly what to do!' (end quote). These are my own experiences with godive Malta, and these are the still manageable stories, a day after my departure the entire team had to end a dive because they felt sick in the water, and guess what, the air filter in the compressor was apparently not replaced, 1 of the team members even had to go to the hospital for a check-up. and as far as I've heard they also had a client last week who was allowed to make a hospital visit for DCI symptoms, although I can't confirm this personally as I wasn't there. What I can confirm is that they won't be of much help with the 100% oxygen, at least not the kit we used during our divemaster training, as it didn't work. After my departure from the center, the new dive center where I was going to work got a nice personal message from Marco telling all the bad things about me, lies that I would be disrespectful and foul mouthed and so on, luckily these people knew better and could make their own judgment, here I was able to finish my training brilliantly and without any problems. but I was not the only one who was harassed after departure by Marco, he also sent an email about the other Divemaster in training to every dive center in Malta telling them not to hire this person, the email contained all made up lies about her, too bad, because this was a very nice girl who could have been a very good divemaster. Customer oriented I can't say much bad about this center, but in terms of treating staff and being in order with safety provisions and correct papers, there is still a lot of work to be done, and until this defect is addressed, I do not recommend this center to anyone. This review is based on my experiences with Godive, in the period May to July 2022, I have no idea how things are going now.
